Aquatic Systems








Phytoplankton are too small to be seen with the naked eye. They obtain energy through photosynthesis. They account for half of the photosynthetic activity on earth.

Zooplankton are a heterotrophic type of plankton. They live in salt and fresh water. They are able to move around by a process called Diel vertical migration.

Aquatic macrophytes are plants that grow in or near water. They can provide shelter as well as a food source for fish. Macrophytes also produce oxygen.

Gold fish are the most common fish kept in aquariums. They were first domesticated in China over a thousand years ago. Gold fish breeds vary in shape, size, and color.

King crabs are known as a super family of the decapod crustaceans. The red king crab is caught and sold for food.

Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to wales. They are known for being playful in nature and are popular in human culture.

My favorite organism



HABITAT The Sun Conure like forests, savannahs and palm groves, in flocks. Nests in palm tree cavities. Gathers to feed in treetops.

Mitochondrial Eve






















In the field of human genetics, Mitochondrial Eve refers to the most recent common matrilineal ancestor from whom all livinghumans are descended. Passed down from mother to offspring, all mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in every living person is directly descended from hers. Mitochondrial Eve is the female counterpart of Y-chromosomal Adam, the patrilineal most recent common ancestor, although they lived thousands of years apart.

The Woods Hole Marine Biological Lab is a marine biological laboratory that receives funding to establish resource for study of regeneration. It is an international institute for research, education, and training in biology. The Woods Hole Marine Biological Lab has received 3.4 million dollars in donations towards it's research.
